Different Laser Marking Processes

Laser marking
Laser engraving is the process of removing material when the surface of the workpiece is melted and vaporized by a laser beam, which produces imprints on the engraved surface.
Laser etching
This method removes the coating or lacquer layer from the substrate. Marking by ablation of the surface region involves a very high-temperature increase above the vaporization temperature of the surface region. For example, ablation of the oxide layer of anodized aluminum exposes the underlying metal and results in the desired marking pattern/text being clearly visible. This will not damage the substrate.
Annealing laser marking
Annealing marks are a unique laser etching process that is suitable for metals and other materials. The heat generated by the laser beam produces an oxidizing process below the surface of the material, causing the surface color of the material to change.
Color marking
Staining is another marking process that is achieved as a result of a chemical reaction on the material when the laser beam is heated. The change in hue depends on the composition of the material being dyed. For example, during the laser etching process, lighter colored plastic materials often discolor, resulting in black smoke marks.
